As caretakers, it can often be a challenge to find meaningful, fulfilling activities to do with neurodiverse individuals. Its often an even bigger challenge to do these without breaking the bank, but worry not my friend, We’ve got your back with 3 places you can visit with your individual for a great, inclusive time out with even a bonus at the end!

Nature Walk at Robinson Nature Center (Free)

The Robinson Nature Center is a nature education facility located in Columbia, Maryland. The center spans over 18 acres of land and offers a variety of educational programs and exhibits for visitors of all ages. Among a wide array of activities and events, the nature center offers several hiking trails that wind through forests, meadows, and wetlands. These trails provide an opportunity to observe local flora and fauna, as well as enjoy the beauty and quiet sounds of the natural surroundings.


Salisbury Zoo (Free)

The Salisbury Zoo is a charming, family-friendly, ADA certified zoo located in Salisbury, Maryland. Established in 1954, it spans over 12 acres and is home to a diverse collection of animals from around the world. The zoo focuses on a fun, inclusive and educational experience that promotes wildlife conservation and appreciation for the natural world. The zoo strives for inclusivity not only for the neurodiverse community but also for all people across all socio-economic backgrounds with free admission year-round.


Art-making at the Walters Museum (Free)

Established in 1934, the Walters Art Museum is a renowned cultural institution located in Baltimore, Maryland. It is known for its extensive collection of art spanning thousands of years and various civilizations. Visitors can explore artifacts from Egypt, including mummies and funerary objects, as well as ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, ceramics, and jewelry. You can also explore Asian, European, Medieval and Renaissance art across a wide span of history. The museum offers free art-making sessions on Sundays from 11am - 1pm and includes free material you can use on-site or take home. 


Uplift 3! (Free)

Though, this article focuses on three activities for a great time out, we can’t go without mentioning a 4th being our own free event going on its third year, Uplift 3! Uplift 3 is set for Tuesday, April 9th, 2024 at 9am. We provide free breakfast, insights and resources for caretakers in need and invite you to attend with your loved ones.
