Xavier Olmo • August 9, 2023

Ingredients:
  • Ripe bananas
  • Creamy peanut butter (or almond butter for nut-free option)
  • Greek yogurt (or a dairy-free alternative)
  • Milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • Honey (optional for sweetness)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

1. Prepare Ingredients:
  • Peel and slice the ripe bananas into chunks.

2. Blend Ingredients:
  • In a blender, combine the banana chunks, a spoonful of creamy peanut butter, a scoop of Greek yogurt, a splash of milk, and a drizzle of honey (if desired).

3. Blend Until Smooth:
  • Blend the ingredients until smooth and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a little more milk to reach the desired consistency.

4. Add Ice and Blend Again:
  • Drop in a few ice cubes and blend again until the smoothie is chilled and has a nice frothy texture.

5. Serve:
  • Pour the creamy peanut butter and banana smoothie into a glass and serve it with a reusable straw or a spoon.

Variations and Tips:
  • Adjust ingredient quantities based on individual preferences and nutritional needs.
  • You can add an optional pinch of cinnamon for extra flavor.
  • For a nut-free option, substitute almond butter for peanut butter.
  • If the texture of the smoothie is a concern, ensure that it's blended until completely smooth.
  • Create a calm and soothing atmosphere during mealtime to promote a positive eating experience.

The goal is to provide a nutritious and tasty beverage that aligns with sensory sensitivities and dietary preferences. If you get the sense this recipe wouldn't work for your individual, check out our other autism-friendly recipes as an alternative.
